![]() Your Private Yoga Session
In a private lesson, I give you my full focus and attention, taking into account your wants and needs, and your physical and personal challenges and limitations. While all yoga supports you physically, emotionally, and spiritually, one-on-one yoga lets you work on what makes sense for you-at your own pace. I will work with you to design a practice that is appropriate for your body and your level of experience. If you have injuries or health concerns, your private lessons will show you how to modify postures in order to help heal those injuries (eg. knees, back, shoulder, hips, wrists) or relieve your health issues (headaches, arthritis, insomnia, womens issues, etc.). They can also support an existing weight loss, strength training or cross-training program. For example, golfers, tennis, hockey and football players use private yoga lessons to increase strength, flexibility and range of motion in body areas specific to their sport. Beyond the physical benefits of yoga, these athletes often discover that a strong yoga practice helps to improve focus and recovery from injury. Typical yoga sessions can range from 60 to 90 minutes in length. Some people work with me once a week, some more often, and some on an as needed basis. You make the call. Whether the session is in your home or in a studio, it is best to have your own mat and wear comfortable clothes. If we are in a heated environment, it is better to wear lighter clothing and bring a large towel to cover your mat for sweating and a small hand towel. I will provide any additional props if needed for your comfort and safety. Your first session will begin with an in depth physical assessment of your strengths, weaknesses, flexibility, prior injuries, weight/nutrition issues, left/right differences etc. We will continue to discuss any psychological issues regarding self image, self-confidence, job or family related stress etc. that may be applicable to your current state of mind. Accordingly, I will tailor your sessions to address any goals, issues, challenges and limitations you may have for your practice. We develop yoga postures and meditation practices that are appropriate for your individual situation. I then explain and demonstrate postures, and provide hands on attention (physical adjustments and assisted stretching) to make sure that the postures are properly performed and adapted to your individual goals and your body so that you can experience the full benefits. You’ll feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment as you notice your strength, ability and range of motion increase. As your daily aches and pains diminish, your mind will become calmer and more focused and you mood will improve. It will be worth every minute and you will come to feel that you can’t get enough. decided to take private lessons with Valerie and it changed my practice
completely. During private lessons, Valerie breaks down the
postures for me and she takes into account my physiology in order to
give me hands on adjustments according to my physical capability. She
not only instructs you for proper alignment for postures but explains
that your yoga practice must flow from your heart. Thanks to her
private lessons I feel more confident and stronger during my
practice. Every time I step on the mat I remember Valerie's
